1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using UK Local Guide, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. Directory service description

UK Local Guide is an online business directory that helps people discover local businesses across the United Kingdom and helps businesses publish listing information. The Service may include search, category and location browsing, listing profiles, enquiry forms, articles, and related account tools for listing management.

4. Free and paid listing plans

Listings may be offered on Free and paid plans (including Verified, Featured and Premium, as described on the pricing page). Plan features and entitlements are as published on UK Local Guide at the time of selection. Free listings include basic company details only. Paid plans may unlock additional features such as website links, maps, social profiles, placement benefits and, where entitled, external review summaries or excerpts.

Directory listing payment processing is not currently live. Do not rely on these Terms for cancellation, refund or recurring-payment commitments until paid checkout is approved and enabled.

5. Listing accuracy and business responsibility

Businesses and listing contributors are responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness and currency of information they submit, including name, address, contact details, website, descriptions and images. You must have authority to publish information about the business you list or claim.

6. Moderation and removal

We may review, edit, refuse, suspend or remove listings, content or accounts that appear inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, abusive, spam-like, or otherwise unsuitable for the Service. We may also remove demo content and content that breaches these Terms.

7. External website links

Listing profiles and the Service may contain links to third-party websites. Those sites are outside our control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices or terms.

8. External Google and Trustpilot reviews

Where a listing is entitled and correctly configured, UK Local Guide may display review information obtained from Google and/or Trustpilot.

• Google reviews remain Google content.
• Trustpilot reviews remain Trustpilot content.
• UK Local Guide does not combine, alter or independently verify external provider ratings into a single UK Local Guide score.
• External review availability depends on the relevant provider, API access, listing entitlement, and administrator confirmation of the provider match.
• Display of external reviews does not mean UK Local Guide endorses the business, the reviewers, or the accuracy of third-party review content.

Use of Google Maps Platform / Places functionality is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service (opens in a new tab) and the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).

9. Intellectual property

The UK Local Guide name, branding, site design and original Service content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Listing contributors retain rights in their own materials but grant us a licence to host and display them for operating the directory. Third-party brands (including Google and Trustpilot) remain the property of their respective owners.

10. Prohibited use

You must not:

• use the Service unlawfully or to harm others;
• submit false, infringing or misleading listing information;
• attempt to scrape, overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service without permission;
• attempt to access non-public systems, keys or other users’ data;
• misrepresent affiliation with UK Local Guide, Google, Trustpilot or any business.

11. Service availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may change, be limited by plan, or depend on third-party providers.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UK Local Guide and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the Service, reliance on listing information, or third-party review content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to listings, accounts or parts of the Service where necessary to protect users, comply with law, or address Terms breaches. You may stop using the Service at any time.

14. Changes to the service and terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
